Ski SlovenijaSlovenian policeman teaching ski students. PHOTO: POLICIJA.SI11 JAN - Slovenian Police is setting up a free ski day for kids in a bid to promote healthy lifestyle and enhanced safety on the ski slopes of the tiny Alpine country.

The campaign by the name “Schoolboy On Ski” is organized for a seventh consecutive year and is supported by the Slovenian Ski Association and the Sports Institute of Slovenia in Planica and aims at raising awareness of children about safe skiing.

Students

The police will provide a full ski day for all registered 4th grade elementary school students. This year the project will be expanded with a cross-country skiing field day for all 3rd grade primary school children. “With this project we want to invest in the awareness of children of the dangers of these sports and help them exercise them in a fun and safe way”, Slovenian police declared in a statement. The ski day is free for the children which will be joined by former Alpine skier Jure Košir and former cross-country skier Petra Majdič.

Schedule

Official start of the project “Schoolboy On Ski” in the field of alpine skiing will be on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at Rogla. Official start of the project in the cross-country skiing will be on 8th February at the Nordic Center in Planica. Skiing schedule includes five different ski locations around Slovenia for the days from 17 to 21 January. Cross-country skiing will be held at three locations from 9 to 11 February.
