The event, co-organized by ROADPOL member Spanish Guardia Civil took place 14-16 November and was hosted by the Spanish Civil Guard Traffic Academy in Merida, the autonomous community of Extremadura, Spain.

Content

The seminar's content focused on the prevention and investigation of road crashes and featured presenters by Spanish law-enforcement institutions. The event agenda started with a presentation about The Traffic Unit of Guardia Civil and its history and activities by Capt, José Manuel Colchero. It was followed by two presentations by Lieutenant José Luís Sánchez – one on preventing fraud in driving tests and another on investigation of fake documentation such as driving licences, identity cards and passports. An attractive presentation on the general aspects of traffic collision investigation was given by Major Ignacio Varela.

Sheila Ferrer López from Spanish General Directorate of Traffic (DGT) followed with an overview of road safety information systems, crash data and road safety indicators. Later Spanish Public Prosecutor Office joined the agenda with a presentation on Road Safety Crimes by Prosecutor Diego Yebra. This was followed by Cap. Juan Francisco Cocaña presenting on fieldwork investigation, use of RPA for measuring vehicles and scene and processing of obtained data. A study and analysis of coefficients of friction obtained with an accelerometer was displayed by Cap. José Carlos Muñoz and G.C. Elena Jáuregui. Last not least the seminar had its only foreign presenter, Ahmad Maroof from Dubai Police, who showed the audience insights on utilizing Bosch CDR in Accident Reconstruction.
