in this edition you will learn the results of our latest enforcement campaign targeting driver distraction. It is an increasingly concerning phenomenon which is the reason why this year ROADPOL elevated the operation and for the first time held it separately from any other events.

39.504 drivers were found using hand-held mobile devices while driving during ROADPOL's latest enforcement action across Europe.

Тhe operation under the Focus On The Road stamp was carried out in October by members of the European Roads Policing Network and targeted prohibited use of mobile phones, other technical devices and other forms of distraction. Read more

ROADPOL President Heading Jury At

First Slovakian Road Police Competition

 

ROADPOL President Elviza Zsinkai was the chairman of the jury of the first Road Police Competition in the history of Slovakian Police.

For the first time the Traffic Police Department of the Presidium of Slovakian Police together with the Secondary Vocational Police School in Pezinok organized an international competition of traffic police officers called „Trafficpol Race 2023“. Read more

In Push For More

Speed Cameras

 

ROADPOL member Garda Siochana received a strong support in its push for more speed cameras on Irish roads.

Irish Road Safety Authority (RSA) chairwoman Liz O’Donnell has endorsed Garda's plan to introduce more average speed cameras and has vowed to support its fight for 20% speed cameras budget increase. Read more

Self-driving Cars To Stay Exotic Until 2035

 

Self-driving cars are unlikely to be widely used at least until 2035 according to an analysis by consulting company "Standard and Poor's Global" (S&P Global).

It is unlikely that people will soon start buying cars "that will go anywhere without being driven by a driver", says the report.

France Rolls Out Anti-Drug Campaign As

Fatalities Soar

 

“It can be fatal”. This is the slogan of a fresh anti-drug-driving campaign planned by the French road safety authority.

The goal is to make motorists aware of the consequences of drug use. The latter has been the cause to an increasing number of road crashes in France. Read more
