ROADPOL Safety Days results:

16 Countries Report ZERO Road Fatalities

The news came after final completion of data received from 28 ROADPOL member countries of which 23 took active part in the European Roads Policing Network's flagship annual campaign. It was carried out in the week of 16-22 September with the goal of achieving the ZERO for at least one single day.

Christian Berthelsen1Eskes and Berthelsen celebrating after the latest OPG meeting in Budapest.Denmark's Christian Berthelsen was elected a new vice-chairman of ROADPOL's Operational Working Group (OPG).

The news broke after the latest OPG meeting in Budapest when Berthelsen was chosen to become the right hand of the group's chairman Marijke Eskes of Dutch National Police, who is also an ex officio member of ROADPOL's Executive Committee.

ROADPOL Wins the 2021 IACP Award

For Excellence In Traffic Safety

 

ROADPOL has been selected 043003Cynthia Renaudas the winner of the 2021 International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) Award for Excellence in Traffic Safety.

The announcement came in a letter from IACP President Cynthia Renaud to ROADPOL President Volker Orben. „The European Roads Policing Network (ROADPOL) is an exemplary police agency and leader in the field of transportation safety“, noted the president of the world’s largest and most influential association of police leaders with more than 31,000 members in over 165 countries. „On behalf of the IACP I thank you for your service and congratulate ROADPOL on this achievement“, Renaud concluded.

Being distracted in traffic is one of the biggest causes of car accidents in the country after speeding and intoxicated driving. ‘We are fighting this by deploying officers, but also by using technical solutions, such as the MONOcam,' says ROADPOL Council member Paul Broer, who recently took over the responsibility for the strategic theme “Traffic” within the Dutch police force from his predecessor Egbert-Jan van Hasselt.
